I work on the docks for the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach. Last night, we were loading 40' containers from the semi-trucks onto the ship. We had 3 lanes of traffic (27 trucks) and me standing in the middle lane. I was wearing my orange VizGuard Three-Season Jacket and my orange WearGuard insulated waterproof overalls. Needless to say, I was highly visible. One of the truck drivers pulled up under the hook and told me, "there is no mistaking you brother, I can see you all the way from the other end of the ship” (which was about 300 feet away). Being the safety man under the crane can be a dangerous and potentially fatal job. It is important that I’m seen at all times by the crane operator, the truck drivers and other workers in the area.
